The first day of school our professor introduced a little old lady tous。
"Why are you in college at such a young age?" I asked later。 She jokinglyreplied, " I'm here to meet a rich husband, get married, have a couple ofchildren, and then retire and travel。"
"No seriously," I asked。 I was curious what may have motivatedher to betaking on this challenge at her age。 "I always dreamed of having a collegeeducation and now I'm getting one!" she told me。
We became instant friends。 Every day for the next three months we wouldleave class together and tolk nonstop。 I was always listening to this "timemachine" as she shared her wisdom and experience with me。
At the end of the semester we invited Rose to make a speech to our footballteam。 I'll never forget what she taught us。 As she began to deliverher preparedspeech, she dropped her note card on the floor。 A little embarrassed she simplysaid, "I'm sorry。 This whiskey is killing me! I'll never get my speech back inorder so let me just tell you what I know。" As we laughed she cleared her throatand began:" We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because westop playing。 There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, andachieving success。 You have to laugh and find humor every day。 You've got tohave a dream。 When you lose your dreams, you die。 We have so many people walkingaround who are dead and don't even know it! There is a huge difference betweengrowing older and growing up。 If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed forone full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old。Anybody can grow older。 That doesn't take any talentor ab
ility。 The idea is to grow up by always finding the opportunity in change。Have no regrets。 The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, butrather for things we did not do。 The only people who fear death are those withregrets。"
At the year's end Rose finished the college degree。 One week aftergraduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep。 Over two thousand college studentsattended her funeral to honorthe wonderful woman who taught by example that it'snever too late to be all you can possibly be。

Nothing succeeds like confidence。When you are truly confident,it radiatesfrom you like sunlight, and attracts success to you like a magnet。
It's important to believe in yourself。Believe that you can do it under anycircumstances, because if you believe you can, then you really will。The beliefkeeps you searching for answers, which means that pretty soon you will getthem。
Confidence is more than an attitude。 It es from knowing exactly where youare going and exactly how you are going to get there。 It es from acting withintegrity and confidence。It es from a strong sense of purpose。It es from astrong mitment to take responsibility, rather than just letting life happen。
One way to develop self-confidence is to do the thing you fear and to get arecord of successful experiences behind you。
Confidence is passionate and understanding。It is not arrogant。 Arrogance isborn out of fear and insecurity, while confidence es from strength andintegrity。Confidence is not just believing you can do it。 Confidence is knowingyou can do it。Know that you are capable of acplish anything you want, and liveyour life with confidence。
Anything can be achieved through focused, determined effort andself-confidence。If your life is not what you want it to be,you have the power tochange it,and you must make the changes on a moment by moment basis。 Live yourpriorities。 Live with your goals and your plan of action。 Live each moment withyour priorities in mind。 Act with your own purpose, and you will have the lifeyou want。
Dear I, Where Are You?
Everything about my future was ambiguously assumed。 I would get into debtby going to college, then I would be forced to get a job to pay off that debt, while still getting into more and more debt by buying a house and a car。 Itseemed like a never-ending cycle that had no place for the possibility of adream。
I want more—but not necessarily in the material sense of personal wealthand success。 I want more out of life。 I want a passion, a conceptual dream thatwouldn’t let me sleep out of pure excitement。 I want to spring out of bed in themorning, rain or shine, and have that zest for life that seemed so intrinsic inearly childhood。
We all have a dream。 It might be explicitly defined or just a vague idea, but most of us are so stuck in the muck of insecurity and self-doubt that wejust dismiss it as unrealistic or too difficult to pursue。
We bee so fortable with the life that has been planned out for us by ourparents, teachers, traditions, and societal norms that we feel that it’s stupidand unsafe to risk losing it for the small hope of achieving something that ismore fulfilling。
“The policy of being too cautious is the greatest risk of all。” ~JawaharlalNehru
Taking a risk is still a risk。 We can, and will, fail。 Possibly many, many, many times。 But that is what makes it exciting for me。 That uncertainty can beviewed negatively, or it can empower us。
Failing is what makes us grow, it makes us stronger and more resilient tothe aspects of life we have no control over。 The fear of failure, although, iswhat makes us stagnant and sad。 So even though I couldn’t see the future asclearly as before, I took the plunge in hopes that in the depths of fear andfailure, I would e out feeling more alive than ever before。
If you feel lost, just take a deep breath and realize that being lost canbe turning point of finding out who you truly are, and what you truly want todo。
