大雁塔
大雁塔位于和平門外4公里的慈恩寺內，相傳唐代永徽三年。赴印度取經的玄奘法師。奏請在寺內建塔，用于存放他自印度帶回來的經籍。這座塔初名為經塔。后世人稱它為大雁塔，此塔巍峨挺拔，引起世人的贊嘆。
這座有著一千三百多年歷史的大雁塔，成為古城西安獨具風格的'標志。大雁塔初建時只有5層，高60米，是仿照西域佛塔形式建的。后經多次修葺至今塔高64米，共7層，底邊各長25米。大雁塔是中國樓閣式磚塔的優秀典型。塔身用青磚砌成，每層四面都有券砌拱門，這種樓閣式磚塔造型簡潔，氣勢雄偉，有顯著的民族特色和時代風格。至于雁塔之前冠以“大”字，則是后人為了區別于薦福寺小雁塔之故。
塔內有木梯，可以盤旋登塔，憑欄遠眺，可飽覽關中大好風光。大雁塔的底層南門兩側，鑲嵌兩塊石碑，一塊“大唐三藏圣教序”，是唐太宗在貞觀廿二年(648)，為玄奘所譯諸經作的總序。另一塊“大唐三藏圣教序論”是唐高宗為“圣教序”所作的紀文，此二碑是研究唐代書法、繪畫、雕刻藝術的重要文物。尤其是塔的西石門楣上的線刻殿堂圖，更是研究唐代建筑的珍貴資料。
小雁塔
小雁塔在西安市友誼路南側的薦福寺內，與大雁塔東西相向，成為唐代古都長安保留至今的兩處重要標志。因規模小于大雁塔，修建時間較晚，故稱小雁塔。
薦福寺原建于唐長安城開化坊內，是唐太宗之女襄城公主的舊宅。睿宗文明元年(684年)皇室外戚為高宗薦福而建寺。天授元年(690年)改為薦福寺，是唐長安城中的著名寺院。唐代名僧義諍在薦福寺譯經，共譯56部，撰著《大唐西域求法高僧傳》一書，對研究中印文化交流極有價值。
現寺內存有的小雁塔，為密檐式方形磚構建筑，初為15層，高約46米，塔身每層疊澀出檐，南北面名辟一門。塔身從下至下逐層遞減內收，愈上愈促，秀麗玲瓏，別具風格。門框為青石徹成。塔身內部為空筒式結構，設木構樓層，有木梯盤旋而上。明清兩代因屢經地震，塔身中裂，塔頂殘毀，僅存13層。今寺內還保存一口重萬余公斤的金代明昌三年(1192年)鑄的臣大鐵鐘，鐘聲宏亮，是譽為關中八景之一的“雁塔晨鐘”。

Covering an area of more than 600 mu, the whole scenic area is a magicalCanyon integrating charming scenery, famous customs and culture, waterentertainment, travel and exploration and other leisure functions. Along theway, there are continuous peaks, steep cliffs and strange shaped stones.
